New arrivals in the first days of sunshine.
How nice to discover that with the first sunny days, also came them! No, not the swallows, which I had already told you about ... The "Etruscan violets" have arrived!
For now, in flashes, almost timid, in tiny and haggard tufts ... then the triumph, in a fortnight, when they have carpeted entire lawns.
Wonderful violets, elegant, with their stems that soars on tufts of grass ...
Violets, which in reality are not only purple (like the violet), but purple and tinged with yellow, completely yellow, at times like albinos.
Returning to my memories again, (I'm really old), I remember the first prairie of Etruscan violets, on the soft meadows… What a sight! I had never seen anything like it !!
A dense expanse of flowers, like a bucket of color thrown on the grass, purple with a thousand shades, mixed with pale yellow, scattered all over the slope.
We thought we were doing somersaults, but could we crush that splendor? We camped on the ground, respectfully on the edge, and thus waited for the evening.
(Back home, to the sea, I felt that I was missing something strongly).
